Family Asteraceae (Compostiae) Description
Branched biennial of damp grassland. Widespread and common throughout. Stems are spiny-winged and cottony. Leaves are pinnately-lobed and spiny. Leafy clusters of reddish purple flower heads, each 10 to 15mm across, appear July to September.Height up to 1.5m.
